THE HUDSON ROOM

Located inside an old five & dime storefront in Peekskill, New York, a restaurant and music venue was established in 2014. GF/A designed the interiors, drawing from the building's Art Deco past. Classic details such as glazed brick and cement tiles were introduced to echo the building’s history. A custom stage and lighting design complete the space. The goal of the project was to take a storefront that had largely been torn of any history and infuse it with language that recalls the past through simple gestures and materials. Brass and wood, glazed brick and decorative lighting, materials that draw from history but continue to bring the space towards 21st century sensibilities of design.
